India captain Virat Kohli has been fined 25 per cent of his match fee for 'excessive appealing' in the narrow World Cup victory over Afghanistan at Southampton.
Kohli has also had one demerit point added to his disciplinary record after he was found to have approached umpire Aleem Dar in an aggressive manner when appealing an lbw decision during the 29th over of the 11-run win.
Kohli was found to have breached Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct. Article 2.1 of the code relates to 'excessive appealing during an international match'.

There was no need for a formal hearing as Kohli admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Chris Broad.
The offence was Kohli's second since the introduction of the revised code in September 2016 and he now has two demerit points, the first being imposed during the Pretoria Test against South Africa in January 2018.
