BCCI Ethics Officer Dismisses Conflict Of Interest Charge Against Sachin Tendulkar

BCCI Ethics Officer Justice DK Jain Monday dismissed the 'conflict of interest' allegations against Sachin Tendulkar after the cricket icon refused to be part of the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) unless he is provided with agreeable 'terms of reference'. Jain in a two-page verdict described the allegations as "infructuous" (pointless), ruling that the matter had to be disposed off after Tendulkar made his position clear that he will not "act as such" a member of the CAC. "Once the BCCI furnished the terms of reference and tenure, he will decide on the course of his participation in the same. Mr Tendulkar doesn't consider himself to be part of any Cricket Advisory Comittee and will not act as such. In consequence, the present complaint doesn't survive for adjudication." The Indian team has always been considered as a safe “catching unit” but fielding coach R. Sridhar now wants improvement in the conversion rate for direct throws in the upcoming World Cup. Except Ravindra Jadeja, some of the younger players in the current squad, despite their supreme fitness and agility, are not able to get their direct throws on target, a crucial aspect during close games. Trying to beat the monotony, fielding coach Sridhar introduced a new drill ‘Round The Clock’, wherein fielders at six different positions will take a shy at the non-striker’s end. While the drill seemed to be like ‘old wine in a new bottle’, the players seemed to be enjoying the session, which is the key during a big tournament.
